About The Institute of Marine Engineers (India), Goa
The Institute of Marine Engineers (India) began as a division of the Institute of Marine Engineers, London. To promote professional marine engineering education in India, it was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on 29 October 1977. The first Governing Council was constituted in 1980 to oversee its activities and development. Further strengthening its commitment to public service and education, the Institute was registered as a Charitable Organisation under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 on 31 May 1982. Since its inception, IME (India) has been dedicated to advancing the standards of marine engineering education, training, and professional excellence across the country.
🎓 Pre-Sea Training
Graduate Marine Engineering – GME
Eligibility: 10+2 PCM, medically fit, STCW training, pursuing Marine Engineering Officer career, eligible for DG pre-sea training.
📋 Modular Courses
Engine Room Simulator – Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO or pre-sea, operational engine duties, simulator training, certificate issued for operations.
🛢️ Familiarization
High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear at Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO CoC, operational high voltage duties, training covers safe operation, maintenance, certificate issued.
Basic Training for Liquified Gas Tanker Cargo Operations – BTGT
Eligibility: Completed STCW, pre-sea training, valid CDC, medically fit, assigned to gas tanker duties (deck/engine).
⚓ Competency Courses
Bridging Courses from MEO Class III CEO to MEO Class I NCV [upto 8000 kw other than tankers]
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III NCV, required sea service, progressing to MEO Class I NCV CoC.
Bridging Courses from MEO Class III SEO to MEO Class II NCV SEO [upto 8000 kw other than tankers]
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III NCV SEO, required sea service, upgrading to MEO Class II NCV SEO CoC.
