About MERCANTILE MARINE ACADEMY
Established in 1998, Mercantile Marine Academy (MMA) is a globally recognized maritime institute offering 22 STCW-certified courses approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). Having issued lakhs of certificates, MMA is trusted by seafarers, the administration, and the industry for its commitment to excellence. The Board of Trustees and faculty, comprising experienced Master Mariners, Chief Engineers, and instructors, ensure high-quality training. MMA follows international STCW standards under the Manila Amendments, emphasizing safety at sea, environmental protection, and competency across all levels. Courses range from basic training for beginners to advanced management programs and refresher courses to enhance existing seafarers’ skills and knowledge.

Basic Safety Training – BST
Eligibility: 10th pass, age 18–30, medically fit, complete STCW PST, FPFF, EFA, PSSR, full attendance.
Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations – BTOCT
Eligibility: Completed STCW, assigned oil/chemical tanker cargo duties, CoP certificate issued upon completion, mandatory for service.
Crowd Management, Passenger Safety and Safety Training
Eligibility: Completed STCW safety training, assigned passenger ship duties, covers crowd control, evacuation, certificate issued mandatory.
High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear at Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO CoC, operational high voltage duties, training covers safe operation, maintenance, certificate issued.
Security Trng. for Seafarer with Designated Security Duties – STSDSD
Eligibility: Completed STCW safety training, assigned designated security duties, covers ship security, threat assessment, certificate issued mandatory.

Engine Room Simulator – Management level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class I/II CoC, perform engine room management, simulator training, certificate issued for management-level duties.
Engine Room Simulator – Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO or pre-sea, operational engine duties, simulator training, certificate issued for operations.
Medical First Aid – MFA
Eligibility: Completed STCW safety training, responsible for first aid on board, covers procedures, treatment, certificate issued.
🔥 Advanced Courses
High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear at Management level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class I/II CoC, manage high voltage systems, training covers operation, safety, certificate issued.
Ship Security Officer – SSO
Eligibility: Completed approved SSO course under ISPS, appointed ship security officer, covers plans, threats, certificate issued mandatory.
⚓ Competency Courses
MEO Class – II
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III CoC, required sea service, preparing for MEO Class II CoC, advanced training.
🔄 Refresher Courses
Refresher Training for Medical First Aid – RMFA
Eligibility: Previously Medical First Aid certified seafarers; refresher updates casualty management and STCW compliance, mandatory renewal.
Refresher Training for Proficiency in FPFF – RFPFF
Eligibility: Previously FPFF certified seafarers; refresher ensures updated fire prevention, firefighting skills, safety compliance, mandatory renewal.
Refresher Training for Proficiency in PST – RPST
Eligibility: Previously PST certified seafarers; refresher updates survival skills, life-saving appliances use, drills, safety compliance, mandatory renewal.
