About Institute of Marine Education And Research

The Institute of Marine Education & Research (IMER) was established on 29 February 2000 as a private maritime training organization. Headquartered in Patna, Bihar, with another campus in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the institute provides quality education and training for aspiring seafarers. IMER is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, and offers a wide range of courses including competency, modular, refresher, and STCW training programs. These courses cover areas such as Basic Safety Training, oil/chemical/gas tanker familiarization, advanced modular training, and competency phases for officers and engineers. The institute emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical learning, ensuring students are fully prepared for careers in the merchant navy. IMER’s mission is to deliver world-class maritime education that meets international standards, while supporting the professional growth of students and fulfilling the manpower needs of the global shipping industry.
