About IMU Kolkata campus

The Kolkata Campus of Indian Maritime University (IMU) was formed by merging two legacy institutes: the Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI) and the Indian Institute of Port Management (IIPM). The campus traces its origins to 1949, when the Government of India established the Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (DMET) with institutes in Mumbai and Kolkata. In 1995, the Kolkata DMET was renamed MERI, offering advanced maritime education and training.
