About Balaji Seamen Training Institute
Balaji Seamen Training Institute, established in 1999 under Sri Math Narayana Trust, is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, to conduct Pre-Sea and other marine-related courses for seafarers. Certified as an ISO 9001:2015 institute by IRQS, BSTI is dedicated to delivering maritime training of international standards. With a strong focus on discipline, knowledge, and practical exposure, the institute prepares cadets to excel as competent professionals in the Merchant Navy. Our objective is to produce highly skilled and competitive seafaring officers who meet regulatory requirements and industry expectations. 🎓 Pre-Sea Training
Training for General Purpose Ratings – G.P. RATING
Eligibility: 10th pass, medically fit, STCW trained, joining as General Purpose Rating, covers ship duties, certificate issued.
🛢️ Familiarization
Basic Safety Training – BST
Eligibility: 10th pass, age 18–30, medically fit, complete STCW PST, FPFF, EFA, PSSR, full attendance.
Security Trng. for Seafarer with Designated Security Duties – STSDSD
Eligibility: Completed STCW safety training, assigned designated security duties, covers ship security, threat assessment, certificate issued mandatory.
🔄 Refresher Courses
Refresher Training for Proficiency in PST – RPST
Eligibility: Previously PST certified seafarers; refresher updates survival skills, life-saving appliances use, drills, safety compliance, mandatory renewal.
Refresher Training for Proficiency in FPFF – RFPFF
Eligibility: Previously FPFF certified seafarers; refresher ensures updated fire prevention, firefighting skills, safety compliance, mandatory renewal.
