About Institute of Maritime Studies
Institute of Maritime Studies (IMS), Goa, is an ISO 9001:2015 and CIP compliant Maritime Training Institute committed to producing skilled Marine Engineers for the global shipping industry. Established in 1997, IMS conducts a one-year Graduate Marine Engineering course and a two-year Pre-Sea Course for Diploma Engineers. Our training emphasizes practical competence across marine machinery, automation, electrical, hydraulics, refrigeration, and safety systems, preparing students to serve on foreign-going merchant vessels. At IMS, discipline, knowledge, and professional integrity are at the core of our teaching. By training cadets as competent seafarers and ambassadors of the nation, we ensure they excel in operations, maintenance, and maritime responsibilities, building a proud career in the Merchant Navy.
🎓 Pre-Sea Training
Diploma in Marine Engineering – DME
Eligibility: Class 10 Science pass, 17–25 years, DG Shipping medical fitness, good eyesight, normal color vision.
Graduate Marine Engineering – GME
Eligibility: 10+2 PCM, medically fit, STCW training, pursuing Marine Engineering Officer career, eligible for DG pre-sea training.

Engine Room Simulator – Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO or pre-sea, operational engine duties, simulator training, certificate issued for operations.
🛢️ Familiarization
High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear at Operational level
Eligibility: Hold MEO Class III/SEO CoC, operational high voltage duties, training covers safe operation, maintenance, certificate issued.

Advanced navigation and engine room simulators for practical training
